A change of view
Found this quote on Charlie’s site today and loved it.
An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing.
It reminded me of how “The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” (with which I am currently obsessed. I am almost done of the trilogy in five parts)is written. One comment on “The Guide”: If anyone ever said that good writing cannot include ridiculously long sentences and huge topic changes in between commas, rendering the sentence almost completely and totally unreadable the first time through, meaning that a second or even third proofing is needed to come to some kind of understanding, which in the Guide usually doesn’t make sense or is at least contradictory anyway, has obviously never read the Guide.
The point of this post is this:
I was reading Charlie’s blog today and a couple of things hit me. One, the hilarity of the above quote, which some people may not find all that funny and in that case…get a sense of humor. And two, the fact that my blog has kind of stagnated, if you can call getting hopelessly lost in a maze of your own self-importance lost. I realized after reading Charlie’s post on the fact that his site needed a point, mine needed….a conscience, or something along those lines anyway. And so I am once again changing this blog. I will change the physical (or digital) part of it by moving it over to private webspace (private in that it is not owned by me and is being offered to me free by two very kind people) and using Wordpress.
Then I began to think about what the goals of this blog are. And came up with the following:
1. Provide space for me to test writing styles and skills.
2. Provide space to excercise my right to an opinion, even if it is completely ridiculous.
3. Provide space to rant, if and when ranting is required.
4. To provide some form of entertainment to anyone who cares.
5. Provide a community in which I can cultivate/keep friendships alive through stunning rhetoric and the sharing of personalities and opinion (although the two could be considered mutually inclusive).
There are probably more but I just can’t think of them right now. However, to achieve the above I think some better organization, the possibility of concentrating my audience (ie. password protection), and generally better surfing, is needed.
And so, with that I promise you, all my wonderful, beautiful, sensible, intelligent average of 26 readers a day (although 15 of that is probably me), a new site and a new addition to my short story collection in the near future.
Cheers!
