The Common Tone
It seems that all good things come in threes. Once again the story of my life seems to be taking another 90 degree turn and so it’s only appropriate that my blog do the same. Hopefully more regular updates are in its future. The new name signifies a change in ideals from change to staticity. A different thought process. This blog is my way of exploring the common ground between people. Call it ideals, life-energy, buddha nature, God, whatever you will. These are my experiences of that nature and my quest for understanding. It is my turn to finally stretch yawn and open my unused eyes. I hope to hear soon that common tone, ringing clear and beautiful behind the scenes of our action packed lives.
A quick comment on the new banner: Ever notice that some of the best discoveries, the clearest thinking and the best discussions take place in coffee houses or with a hot beverage in hand? While reading this blog take the chance to relax, drink something warming and be. While you’re here put your over-active brain to rest and let the moment wash over you.
I’d like to share with you a paraphrased story from a book I’m currently enjoying which I will comment more fully on in an upcoming post.
“I woke up one morning and sat in front of my frosted window. As the rays of weak mid-winter sun played hopelessly on the outside of the window I gazed at the frost. For hours I sat there picking out patterns and drawing in the frost as it melted under the sun’s strained rays and the steam from my coffees. It was almost endlessly entertaining to find faces and shapes in the clouded window. But then it struck me when the frost was finally gone. There was the light, all that time, behind the cover of the frost. Beautiful and perfect, the light was what I was missing”
This is a great metaphor for our lives. Hidden behind our day to day activities is that light, we are all born with it, and it never leaves us. It is us who leaves it, for the instant gratification of the “frost”. It is the trek back to the common tone that makes us human.
Have a Peaceful day,
Nick
