A visit from Marc
A friend, is coming to visit me. Is that not a great thing? I mean it takes a great friend to come and visit any other friend anywhere. By going to visit someone, one removes themselves completely out of their own comfort zone and into the unknown. Plus one is giving of one’s time and money and efforts to make contact with another human being. A beautiful thing really. And my friend, Marc, is not only jumping in the car, he is in fact jumping in a plane and flying all the way from Oesterreich (Austria). This is especially exciting since I am picking him up at the airport tomorrow at 4:30.
It will be great to see him again and hear all the stories of things I have been missing since I left, great things I suppose. But I must admit that I feel a little bad having him here. You see, and I hope that he doesn’t read this as that could result in a misunderstanding. So Marc if you do read this, know only this, I am very excited as is everyone that you are coming, and we can’t wait to have you here for three weeks. The reason for the slight feeling of guilt is simply one of timing and logistics. Pim was a Thai exchange student who lived with my family for roughly 3 months (and by roughly I mean it all senses of the word). It was a difficult time for my parents as she was not easy to be around and she came with the happy surprise of a boyfriend attached at the hip, simply another body. I was spared that challenge except for the last week. She left last Wednesday. FX, who many of you probably know, left last Wednesday as well. But for those of you who don’t know he was a French exchange student from Will’s exchange who came back this summer to visit for 6 weeks because he likes our family better than his
FX contrarily is a great guy whom I have come to consider in the short time as a second brother. I miss him already, but that’s not to say he can’t be difficult and annoying, in fact he is scarily similar to my brother, and yet another body. And now with only 4 days rest for my parents enter: Marc. Now I know for a fact that Marc is a cool kid and is also like a brother to me. I know that he will not be any trouble to have around, it just seems slightly unfair to my parents that they have so little time to feel at home in their own homes. So basically thank you Mom and Dad we appreciate you giving us this multitude of opportunities, I know for sure that these will be the moments we will remember in our education, not the classrooms.
My apologies this is turning sappier than I meant it to.I guess that’s it other than two more quick bullet-form comments.
-I am addicted to Civ IV
