“Journeys are the midwives of thought”

And my pregnency has just begun. I like that quote. It’s very well written, it not only tells us that the author is partial to travel but also that he acknowledges the presence of ideas before any journey. According to Alain De Botton, journeys nurture those little thoughts planted in that dark hole to maturity. How many great works of art and science have been brought into the world from the dark recesses of a famous mind on a train, boat or plane? I would be willing to bet a lot on a lot.

Anyway, the final bang began last saturday. I won’t comment on it until I can get some photos uploaded then I can do a good post about the last weekend. I’ll just say it started at the Wöthersee (a breathtakingly beautiful lake in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, Austria) and took us to the Adriatic coast in Italy, specifically Duino and Trieste.

After a small pause in the pregnency today and tomorrow I will continue on wednesday with a journey to Burgenland to visit Tyler.

[four day break]

The days here in Burgenland with Tyler and his host family were great! His host family is amazing and they have a pool! We went swimming a bunch and earlier today we were in Vienna. We bought something special for the Euro tour of which I am sure you will see and hear more at a later date.

Tomorrow is a train ride to Linz early in the morning, and then a weekend Rotary conference. In case I don’t get an email off before Monday, (ie Euro tour begin) have a great couple weeks, and if anyone has any special requests for something from any of the cities on Euro tour just let me know.

All my love,

Nick

Well this place has been neglected… Then again you don’t have much time left over there so I’d hardly expect you to spend it on a computer. :P Although it’ll be tough leaving Europe after a year, be grateful your life isn’t currently a living hell. :(
