Knittelfeld here I come

Well! It has been a while since my last post, and I apologize to all my avid readers out there ;) To tell you the truth the reason why I haven’t posted is that I am so busy I haven’t got time to post, nor anything remotely worth posting about. Seussical the musical (which my highschool is putting on) is taking over my life right now. However, I was able to escape for the weekend to go to the middle of no-where in Nova Scotia for an intensive rotary “outbounder” (the cheesy name they give to the students who are traveling out of the country next year) weekend. It was great I met a lot of new people and learned lots about other countries (specifically Switzerland since there were three “inbounders” from there).

But the most exciting part and the reason for this post is that I finally found out where I am going! Yes I am going to Knittelfeld. What do you mean you don’t know where that is!?!?!?!? It’s a small town of about 12,000 in Austria an hour away from Graz the second largest city in Austria, 223,000 (yessssssssssssss!). Fortunatly it also has a world reknowned arts university the “University of Music and Dramatic Arts” which is huge on international exchange students. I am being hosted by the oberes murtal rotary club in Knittelfeld. Its looking good. I am hoping to make some musical connections with the university so I can take lessons at least, but I will also get a taste of the Austrian country-side. Knittelfeld is in a valley in the alps and is about 10-15min away from a ski hill (i believe). I will be leaving here between August 9-13 to attend a German “boot camp” to learn the insanely grammatic language. The boot camp is about three weeks long and is situated in Vienna I believe (poor me:).

All in all I am pretty pumped, and I still have two months to go in school:( But my motto for the coming year is: “As long as I have my music I will be happy”. And right now it looks like that is a distinct possibility as a wealth of trumpet teachers are less than an hour away by train!
